Coconut oil is one of the most edible oils in the world. It is made from the wick, meat, and milk of coconut palm fruit.

 

Coconut oil is a white solid fat, melting at warmer room temperatures of about 25° C (78° F). During summer, when the temperature is higher, it appears as thin clear liquid oil.

 

Unrefined varieties have a distinct coconut aroma that many find quite pleasant in meals. It is used as food oil, and in industrial applications for cosmetics and detergents production.

 

Due to its high levels of saturated fat, numerous health authorities recommend limiting its consumption as food.

 

Coconut oil, whether used alone or as part of body oil, lotion or scrub, leaves a silky feel and keeps the skin smooth, elastic and hydrated. Thanks to its medium-chain fatty acids and proteins, says skincare expert Margaret Weeds.

 

As a result of its molecular -structure, it is easily absorbed. A study published in an international journal of dermatology showed that pure virgin coconut oil helps to decrease water loss in people with atopic dermatitis.

 

To keep the skin flake-free, it is important to lavish the body with products that have an ingredient such as coconut butter.

 

For dry skin problems, it is advised to apply pure virgin coconut oil. This oil appears as a solid at room temperature but melts when applied to the body, due to the normal body temperature, say experts.

Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Chips: Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees. Thinly slice sweet potatoes to about 1/8 thick. Place slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with Mahc coconut oil. Bake for about 15 minutes or until the chips is lightly brown. Add salt to taste and serve with salsa or dip. 

You can as well eat them plain—either way, they’re delicious!
